The Cursed Child opened in London’s Palace Theatre in July. According to Pottermore, the plan is to stage the play at the Lyric Theatre in New York in the spring of 2018, after the theatre undergoes a multi-million-dollar transformation. “So we brought the creative team to New York in September this year to look at many of the beautiful theatres in New York city.” Eventually, the team settled on The Lyric Theatre, which will be completely remodelled to accommodate the unique production. The news was revealed on JK Rowling’’s Pottermore site, where producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender announced they were in the final stages of talks to transfer the production to the US, reported Contactmusic.
