Mohanlal’s next film announced
Malayalam director B Unnikrishnan has made a big announcement on his Facebook page regarding his next directorial venture. Mohanlal is currently basking in the success of back-to-back hits. It will be bankrolled by Aashiravad Cinemas, owned by Mohanlal’s close friend Antony Perumbavoor in association with Mohanlal’s home production Maxlab. The untitled big-ticket film will star Mohanlal in the lead role. Mohanlal will play a dual role, one as iconic Major Mahadevan and as his dad Colonel Sahadevan. Meanwhile, Mohanlal is currently shooting for his forthcoming war movie, which is a part of the Major Mahadevan series of Mohanlal. The director in the Facebook post has said that he has worked for more than two years on the script and it will have a big budget. His last release Pulimurugan is still running in theatres. The dubbed Telugu version of the film was released in Telugu states last week to an encouraging response. The just-announced project marks Unnikrishnan’s fourth collaboration with Mohanlal. Previously, the actor-director duo have given films like Madampi, Grand Master and Mr Fraud. The film titled 1971 – Beyond Borders, a prequel to Kurukshetra, and is based on the true events of the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The film will go on floors on January 20 next year and the filmmakers are planning to release in May.
