Pulimurugan completes 75 days, becomes highest grossing Malayalm film of all-time

Pulimurugan has collected Rs 80 crore at the Kerala box office alone. And its Telugu dubbed version has made more than Rs 5 crore from the ticket sales in the Telugu speaking states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Mohanlal-starrer has beaten the collection of Allu Arjun’s Sarrainodu to become the fourth highest grossing south Indian film this year. Mohanlal’s film is just a few crores away from beating the record set by his Telugu blockbuster film Janatha Garage, whose lifetime collection reportedly is pegged at Rs 135 crore. The success of its original film, which had also received mostly positive reviews from media and fans, seems to have helped Manyam Puli in drawing the audience to the theatres. The action-adventure movie is now the highest-grossing film in the history of Malayalam industry. Mohanlal is also a well-known movie star in Telugu regions, thanks to his previous blockbuster Telugu film Janatha Garage. Manyam Puli marks the actor’s third release in Telugu this year, including Manamantha, a critically acclaimed film. Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali holds the first place, followed by Vijay’s Theri. Mohanlal took to Twitter to share a new poster of the film to mark its landmark achievement, which has opened up new possibilities for films from Mollywood. Pulimurugan, including its Telugu dubbed version, has raked in about Rs 130 crore at the worldwide box office, overtaking the collections of some of the biggest titles of Tamil and Telugu cinema.
